Sivasagar in a Day (1 Day)
1 Day- 1
Ahom Heritage Trail
Start at Sivasagar Tank (Borpukhuri) at sunrise — the largest man-made tank in India, excavated by Queen Ambika in 1734. Visit the Sivasagar Temple complex on its banks. Then explore Talatal Ghar, the seven-storey Ahom palace with underground tunnels extending 16 km. Walk to Rang Ghar, Asia's oldest surviving amphitheater. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon visit to Charaideo Maidams (45-minute drive) — the royal burial mounds of Ahom kings, often compared to the pyramids of Egypt. Return to Sivasagar for sunset at the Sivasagar Tank.
