Journey: Guwahati to Dirang ( 300 km, 8 hrs 30 min )
Begin your adventure with your arrival in Guwahati, the bustling gateway to the northeastern wonders of India. From there, you'll move towards the serene town of Bhalukpong, often referred to as the entry gate to Arunachal Pradesh.
The name "Bhalukpong" is derived from the name of the king "Bhaluk," grandfather of Baan Raja, and “Pong” meaning place. The Aka tribe primarily inhabits this region. Along the way, you'll have the chance to stop at tea gardens, adding a touch of tranquility to your journey.
On your way, you'll visit the fascinating Orchid Research Centre at Tipi. This center is a treasure trove, boasting over 1000 exotic orchids displayed in all their splendor. Your journey continues with stops at several picturesque waterfalls near Nechiphu La ( La meaning Pass in local language ). Crossing the pass, your journey takes you to the enchanting town of Dirang.

Today, your first stop is Mandala Top, a captivating site featuring a series of 108 Buddhist stupas built in a circular formation atop a mountain in Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of its kind in India and what makes it unique is the inscriptions of the mantra 'Om Mani Padme Hum' in 108 pillars. Here, you'll be treated to breathtaking views that are sure to leave you in awe.
Visit the Dirang Monastery, which is named "Thupsung Dhargye Ling," a title bestowed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The name translates to "Place of Flourishing of the Buddha's Speech." This monastery serves as a temple and learning institute for the study of Tibetan Buddhism, attracting laypeople and monks alike. Nestled in the Himalayan village of Dirang, it's a tranquil place for spiritual reflection and admiration of the rich Tibetan culture.
The next part of your day is spent in the picturesque Sangti Valley. This valley has the stunning Sangti river, charming sheep farms, bountiful orchards, and landscapes that can only be described as postcard-perfect. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush green meadows, Sangti Valley is a sanctuary for the endangered Black-necked Cranes. It's a place where nature's beauty is at its finest. Visiting here will make you feel like you've stepped into a living painting.

Journey: Sangti Valley to Tawang ( 150 km, 5 hrs 30 mins )
Today, you'll leave Sangti Valley and embark on a journey to Tawang. Your route takes you across Tse La (Pass) & two lakes, which stands at an elevation of 13,700 feet. The pass is named in honor of a courageous local Monpa girl named Sela who supported the Indian army during the Indo-China war in 1962 and tragically lost her life.
As you make your way to Tawang, you'll have the opportunity to visit Nuranang falls near Jang village. This stunning waterfall is named after another Monpa girl named Nura who provided invaluable assistance to the Indian army during the war, only to be captured by the Chinese.
Upon reaching Tawang, you'll check in to your hotel and prepare for the adventures that await in this beautiful region.

In the morning you will leave for Bum La. At an elevation of 15,200 feet and located near the Indo-China border, Bum La is an exceptional destination. However, visiting here requires an army permit, and foreigners are not allowed due to security restrictions. Bum La is a historically significant route connecting Lhasa ( capital of Tibet ) and Tawang. Its rugged beauty and natural grandeur characterize the area.
Next, you will leave to visit the stunning lake Sangetsar Tso ( Tso means Lake in the local language ), also known as Madhuri Lake, which gained fame for its appearance in the Bollywood movie "Koyla," starring the renowned actress Madhuri Dixit. The lake itself was formed during a flash flood that occurred during a 1972 earthquake. Its mesmerizing beauty is further enhanced by the bare upright tree trunks that can still be seen submerged within the lake.
Upon return, halt at Panga Teng Tso, a picturesque lake surrounded by a vivid backdrop of the snow-clad Himalayan Mountains.

In the morning, you will explore the 2nd largest Buddhist Monastery in the world, Tawang Grand Monastery also known as Gaden Namgyal Lhatse. This monumental place, whose name translates to "the divine paradise of complete victory," was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso in 1680–1681. Its followers practice Vajrayana Buddhism, and its library is a repository of valuable old scriptures.
Next, visit the 600-year-old Urgelling Monastery, which is of significant historical importance. It's the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, and its spiritual legacy continues to flourish.
Then visit Gyangong Ani Gompa a friendly nunnery, with about 50 Buddhist nuns.
Pay your respects at the Tawang War Memorial, which stands as a tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Indo-China war in 1962. In the evening, don't miss the compelling Light and Sound Show that narrates the heroic stories of these soldiers.

Journey: Tawang to Shergaon (6 hrs 30 min, 220 km)
Morning, bid farewell to Tawang and set forth on your journey to Shergaon. Along the way, you'll visit the Jaswant Garh War Memorial. This memorial site is adorned with a garland in honor of the late Jaswant Singh Rawat, an Indian rifleman of the 4th Garhwal Rifles, celebrated for his bravery in the face of Chinese troops during the Indo-China war in 1962. The memorial stands as a testament to his heroism and unwavering dedication to his duty.
On the way visit Bomdila Monastery & Buddha Heritage Park. On reaching Shergaon, check in to your stay and experience the serenity alongside Chuskar Riverside.
